Visualisation Skills to Enhance Your Safety

I spend about 99% training my self defence and martial arts drills on my own.

Sometimes with Patricia at home.

I do make a point of calling out my Combat Self Defence Black and Brown Belts in classes and courses.

This is when I demonstrate combinations, sets and drills.

So, how do I keep the edge by not being able to partner up regularly?

Well, you see it’s down to my interpretation and implementation of visualisation.

I find it easy, others do not.

It’s all about practice and believing in yourself.

In my mind’s eye I am anticipating what actions an attacker would do in a live situation and I use this imagery and intuition to counter and destroy the threat.

The threat could be verbal and/or it could be physical.

Either way I create scenarios in my mind and then add my actions.

This is what you need to do.

Here is a short check list to assist you:

· Visualise the look in their eyes.

· Visualise your posture, positioning and intent.

· Visualise your actions.

· Visualise what you want the outcome to be.

All of the above enhances your ability to react and respond with perfect timing and confidence if the need arises.

Spend time closing your eyes and incorporating the above.

It works!

Keep safe out there.
